To Pimp A Butterfly
Woah Woah Woah!! Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated follow up to his 2012 Good Kid M.A.A.D City album just dropped one week early!
There was a bit of a mix up as to if it was leaked or officially released but either way, we’re grateful!
#ToPimpAButterfly has been on repeat all morning & I can tell “Alright” (produced by Pharrell), “Hood Rich” & the twelve minute track, “Mortal Man” will be album highlights. Mortal Man especially because it includes “a conversation” between Kendrick Lamar & the great Tupac Shakur. Kendrick chopped & used audio from an old 1994 Tupac interview. Sounds pretty awesome when you hear it altogether.
The New York Times also just released an in depth interview with Mr. K.Dot himself where he speaks about his experiences outside of Compton, traveling around the world & how he came up with the concept for this album. During the interview, Kendrick spoke on the influence he knows he has on is fans:
“I’m the closest thing to a preacher that they have,” Kendrick said. “My word will never be as strong as God’s word. All I am is just a vessel, doing his work.”
