#HEALTHTIP: 6 Benefits of Coconut Oil

6 Benefits of Coconut Oil
If you don’t have a jar of this superfood in your home, you need to run to get some NOW!

Here’s why:

1. Burns Fat
Coconut oil is high in Medium Chain Triglycerides (Fatty Acids) (MCFA’s) that boost metabolism. This will help you burn fat and aid in weight loss as well.

2. Quick Source of Energy
Not only is it a quick source of energy… it’s natural. So save the red bulls, sugary drinks, and energy pills. The MCFA’s in coconut oil are sent directly to our liver and quickly converted into energy, not body fat, which speeds up our metabolism.

3. Prevents Infections
According to Natural News, coconut oil is rich in Lauric acid, which is a fatty acid with anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. Researchers say that two to three tablespoons of coconut oil a day will protect the body against viruses and bacteria.

4. Reduces Hunger
I mentioned previously that the MCFA’s are sent directly to the liver during digestion. This will not only give the body an added energy boost, but the MCFA’s form ketone bodies, which reduce hunger and cravings. Sounds great right?

5. Skincare
You can do more than digest this stuff too! After you wash your face, add coconut oil as a moisturizer, or even use it to shave your legs. You can also use it to remove your makeup or even as sunscreen. It’s great for keeping the skin hydrated naturally!

6. Hair Care
Not only can you digest it, and use it to moisturize your skin, you can also add it to your hair. It’s great for locking in moisture and even better as a deep conditioner.

You can use coconut oil for baking and as cooking oil. It’s great added to tea or coffee, and even to your favorite smoothie.

So go grab some organic, unrefined coconut oil from almost any grocery store or market, and believe me, it’ll be worth the trip.

I use Nutiva, but as long as it’s unrefined and organic, you’re good!
