B-Rocka herself is actually opening up about the severity of her struggles with depression.

In her exclusive interview with People magazine, she confirms that after her involvement in a tragic car accident in 2006, she contemplated ending her life. Although she was not charged in that case, she recalls her mental state at that time:

“I remember laying in bed super depressed. I [told] myself, ‘So, you’re just going to go out like this? That’s wack. You have a daughter. If you can’t do it for yourself, do it for her because this is not the way to leave a mark in her life.’”

She credits her  18-year-old daughter Sy’rai for giving her the strength to eventually break out of her depression.

“If Sy’rai wasn’t here, I wouldn’t be either, the place that I was in, it just felt like I wasn’t going to make it through.”

Brandy says that she wondered did she get too candid with her latest album,

“I was thinking, ‘Did I go too deep? Did I go too far in what I was singing about?’ But I didn’t dwell on those thoughts.n“I’m in a place now, where I can be proud of moving in the right direction.”
