You might miss the old Kanye but new Ye’ is still winnin’!
Mr. West has been crowned MTV’s “Hottest MC in the Game” for 2016.
The always debatable list was revealed during an MTV2 special on Friday December 16th with Kanye crowned king and Drake coming in as second best.
Fresh off of his Grammy nomination, new comer Chance The Rapper takes the number No.3 spot followed by Travis $cott and Future, rounding out this years top 5.
After a four-year hiatus, Charlamagne Tha God led the pack as Nick Cannon, Joe Budden, radio personality Letty Martinez, Epic A&R Sickamore, and podcaster Taxtone curated this years Hottest MC’s list for the culture.
According to Charlamagne Tha God, the criteria used for the list included bars, business dealings, impact, style and social media presence.
With Young Thug (6), YG (7), Kendrick Lamar (8), Lil Uzi Vert (9), and 21 Savage (10) making the official list, the panelists also offered up some honorable mentions. Dave East, Lil Yachty, Vic Mensa, Kevin Gates, Remy Ma, Big Sean, and Young M.A. all earned nods in that category.
Is it me or J.Cole is completely missing from this entire conversation?
This isn’t Yeezy’s first time being the king MC of the year, back in 2008 he was gifted with the No. 1 spot as well.
After the list was finalized, Budden offered some parting words: “I gotta agree with the fans,” he joked. “This list trash.”
