Legendary music executive Andre Harrell has died at the age of 59.

The music pioneer founded Uptown Records in the late 1980s, and took Sean “Diddy” Combs’ under his wing.

According to the New York Times,  he died Thursday night at this home in West Hollywood, California. His ex-wife, Wendy Credle, said that the cause of death was heart failure and that Harrell suffered from heart problems for some time.
