Post-workout meals are just as important as the workout itself!

It’s so important to eat a combination of protein and carbohydrates within an hour of exercising. Protein helps your muscles recover and carbohydrates replenish energy stores.

Here are the best foods to fuel and reload your body after a workout:

Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt has double the amount of protein compared to regular yogurt and is also a great source of carbohydrates. Add granola, honey and fruit to your Greek yogurt for a better taste.

Whey protein and protein bars

3
To help recover your muscles, it’s great to add a high protein snack or bar after a workout. Making a protein shake with whey protein is just as beneficial and is also very yummy! My favorite protein shake recipe includes vanilla whey protein, crunchy almond butter and half of a banana! Yum!

Whole grain

4
A whole grain wrap, whole grain cereal, quinoa or oats, are all loaded with complex carbs, which helps replenish your energy. Try adding turkey or grilled chicken to a whole grain wrap for extra protein.

Fruit

5
Fruit is an excellent source of complex carbs and are also very refreshing. You can add fruit to Greek yogurt and to a protein shake for double the energy and nutrients!

No matter what time you workout, a post workout meal is so necessary. Your body thanks you in advance!
