Matt White, who lives in Memphis, Tenn., went shopping in his local Kroger per usual when sixteen year old Chauncy Jones approached him, ‘hungry & broken.’ Chauncy asked if he could carry the groceries bags outside to the car if Matt bought him a box of doughnuts.

“This kid looked like he had been turned down 100 times. He looked ashamed, hungry and broken.”

White later went home and shared what else he learned about Chauncey that day in a heart wrenching Facebook post.

The post has since gotten over 27K views:

After this post was shared over two thousand times, Matt decided to start a gofundme account to help Chauncy’s family. The account has since raised over $340,000!!

 HOW AMAZING IS THAT!?

Matt’s statement on the gofundme page reads,

“I didn’t know this much love could exist in one place, be aimed in one direction, but seen and felt and empowered by so many people.”

This kid went to the grocery store and was willing to do the tiniest deed in exchange for food. He had the courage to ask for that & was rewarded with more than he would’ve probably ever imagined. My God! AMAZING. -Diva
